A number of Katrakis' literary works were published around the world in different languages, among them: two books of poetry, a number of short stories, history and art history essays and catalogs. She continues her professional writer's career, actively developing film stories, writing scripts for film and television, publishing collections of short stories, critical esseys, catalogs and articles.

"My art is often profoundly influenced by childhood memories of the late Soviet-period (Gorbachev's "Perestroika"), my family multicultural background, personal experience, extensive travel and life abroad. I would like to think of my paintings and writing as one whole, as a kind of comic strip of memories, characters, thoughts, ideas, dreams and experiences.
